Most of these benches are coated with special wax or liquid that would ensure its protection from getting damaged either from the heat of the sun or rainwater. It is not even safe from humid weather as it can collect moisture. It is therefore imperative that you also purchase cleaning materials specifically made for your new bench. For instance, if there are tough spots to clean, you should only use a solvent that is suited to the material of the bench. Those used for iron cast may not be suited to wood.
